MALIN MADE the longest trip in club football a little shorter tonight by winning against Naomh Columba in Glencolmcille.
Naomh Columba 2-10 Malin 3-10
Terence Coulhoun’s team made the 206-mile round trip, taking over two-and-a-half hours each way, to Pairc na nGael and eked out a narrow win to take back to north Inishowen.
Ryan Gillespie and Paddy Byrne netted goals within two minutes of each other on 22 and 24 minutes and the Glenmen were 2-4 to 0-5 in front at the break.[adrotate group=”68″]
However, the loss to Michael Maguire to a black card didn’t aid Naomh Columba and Malin showed no signs of travel sickness in the second half.
Brendan McLaughlin netted in the 35th minute and repeated the trick two minutes later.
Eight minutes from the end, Ciaran McColgan fired in a third Malin goal and they held on despite Conor Farren picking up a second yellow card in added time.[adrotate group=”38″]
