Magee siblings move into European quarter-final

CHLOE AND SAM MAGEE are into the quarter-finals at the European Badminton Championships in France.

Earlier this afternoon, the Raphoe siblings defeated German pair Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich.

The Magees won a pulsating contest, one that lasted a sapping 62 minutes, 21-19, 14-21, 24-22.

After losing the second set and having been pushed all the way in the final set, the Magees showed real bottle to advance to the last eight.

In their quarter-final, they will meet the eighth seeds, Niclas Nohr and Sara Thygesen from Denmark.

On Tuesday, the Magees struck gold when they overcame the fancied Polish duo and fourth seeds, Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba, 21-18, 13-21, 21-18.

This evening, Chloe Magee is back in action in the women’s singles. She faces third seed and world number 27 Line Kjaersfeldt from Denmark, with a place in the quarter-finals the reward for the victor.
