MacCumhaills notes – No luck for footballer O’Reilly or county hurlers

Hard luck to Marty O’Reilly (above), Rory Gallagher and all the Donegal team after Saturday’s defeat to Mayo.

A sharper and perhaps more rested Mayo team progress at our expense. This Donegal team has given everything to their county and we are eternally grateful for it.

All-Ireland Minor Hurling B Quarter-Final:

The Donegal hurler’s were unsuccessful in their campaign in the B category after suffering defeat to Mayo in Letterkenny on Saturday.

This is disappointing for our four lads on the team but after winning the C grade they can look back on the year with great pride, there is plenty more to come yet from these lads.

Reserves:

Our reserves travelled to Glencolmcille on Sunday to fulfil a postponed fixture from earlier in the campaign. The lads recorded victory in their first game back after a long break. Final score was: Seán Mac Cumhaills 2.12 Naomh Columba 2.05.

Hurling Fixture:

Our Hurlers are out for their third game in the Senior Hurling Championship this Saturday with an away game against St, Eunan’s in O’Donnell Park at 7.30pm. All support welcome.

Football Fixtures:

The third team play Ardara on Friday evening in Mac Cumhaill Park at 7pm.

The All-County League continues for the seniors on Sunday with a home game versus Cloughaneely with a 3pm throw-in time.

Our reserves play at home against Fanad Gaels with a 1.30pm throw in time before the senior game. All support welcome.

Handball:

Best of luck to Avril McNamee competing in the World Handball Championships in Canada.

Annual Golf Classic:

The Annual Golf Classic takes place in Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club on Friday the 21st of August. Entry fee is €80 for team of four. Tee box sponsorship is €20. All teams and support is greatly appreciated.

Seán Mac Cumhaill’s 5K:

Our Annual 5K takes place on Friday the 4th of September at 7.30pm. Registration takes place from 6.00pm and all funds raised go towards preparing our underage teams.  This is a great opportunity to come out and support and everyone is welcome to participate whether you Run, Walk or Crawl! Entry is €8 for over 16’s. Further details to follow.

Club Gear in McElhinneys:

McElhinneys have a large amount of club-crested gear in stock which is going for a reduced price with €10 off each item. These items are available in both the sports and children’s department.

Club Shop:

The club shop is now closed. If anything is needed please get in contact at 087 623 6599. Note: we are out of club bags. We have small sized hurling helmets in club colours with crest now at half price at €55.

Club Donegal:

We have 1 Club Donegal Card left which will grant access to the All-County League and every Club Championship game for the forthcoming season. The cards are priced at €50. Most clubs sell for €100 plus so this is a really good deal. Anyone interested please contact Eugene Gallagher on 086 609 8801.

Lotto:

There was no winner of last week’s Lotto. The numbers drawn were 3, 11, 15 and 20. There were three match 3 winners, Michael Patton, Shauna Kelly and JJ Dorrian each receive €50. Jackpot this week is €6,300 and Shane McNulty’s team is selling.

The club are asking for people to help out by selling lotto’s. This would involve helping to sell 1 week out of every 7 or 8 depending on the amount of teams formed. This is an important source of funding for the club and a great way to help get involved with your club. All help available would be greatly appreciated. If interested please contact Terry O’Reilly on 086 609 5347.

Bingo

The Bingo takes place in Villa Rose on Sunday night with an 8.30pm start. The Snowball jackpot is €9,000 for 45 numbers or less. All are very welcome.
