MacCumhaills, Bundoran’s race for Division 2 title to go right to the wire

Already-promoted Bundoran and Sean MacCumhaills are still in a tussle to see who will be crowned champions of Division 2 after today’s games.

At The Banks, MacCumhaills defeated Naomh Muire 3-8 to 0-9.

Aaron Kelly’s goal late in the first half had MacCumhaills 1-4 to 0-3 ahead after the first half.

Stephen Mulligan hit the second MacCumhaills goal midway through the second half.

And the win was copper-fastened for the Twin Towns side when Oisin Gallen (pictured) converted the third three-pointer.

Mulligan top-scored with 1-2 while Darren O’Leary and Martin O’Reilly got a brace each for MacCumhaills, who are two points ahead of Bundoran, who do have a game in hand.

At Tir Chonaill Park, meanwhile, a last-gasp Jason Duignan goal earned Four Masters a 3-6 to 1-12 draw with Bundoran.

At half-time, Bundoran led 0-5 to 0-3.

Cian McEniff hit Bundoran’s goal and when Michael Eniff steered over a point, it was 1-7 to 0-3 and, seemingly, a matter of Bundoran seeing it out.

But when Emmett Doogan landed a goal for Four Masters, the doubts set in.

Four Masters narrowed the gap further through veteran Barry Monaghan.

Thomas McGowan drew Four Masters level with a goal from a penalty, but even at that Bundoran hit back to go three up.

There was time only for one, final play and, remarkably, it ended in Duignan’s goal.
