ALAN Macbeth rolled the years back to help fire St Johnston to the Championship title on Sunday.

St Johnston had 104 runs to spare on Burndennett at the Railway Road.

The experienced Macbeth, in his first senior game for four years, posted 58 runs as St Johnston toasted silverware again.

Macbeth’s 58 was supplemented by his opening partner at the crease, Deepak Redd, who made 51.

David Lapsley weight in with 35 and David Fleming swung 34 to help take St Johntson to 228 all out in 39.5 overs with Lapsley, the captain, having opted to bat first.

Macbeth and Reddy, stepping up from the seconds for the day, certainly showed their worth to the cause with their stand.

In reply, Burndennett were put all out for 124 with Reddy taking four wickets and Scott Devenney took two.
