LyIT to host GMIT in Rustlers Cup quarter-final

Letterkenny Institute of Technology host GMIT in a Rustlers CFAI Cup quarter-final tomorrow.

Shane Byrne’s LyIT welcome GMIT to the Port Road (kick-off 2pm), with a huge chance to reach the semi-finals.

LyIT are also in a League quarter-final, with a date yet to be determined for that clash.

The Letterkenny scholars showed excellent form before the Christmas recess and will be confident heading into tomorrow’s game.

Byrne is hopeful of having a full compliment. His squad includes Derry City player Adrian Delap, but Byrne is confident of being able to call upon the Ray native.

“He’ll have to ask his manager at Derry, but it’s a big thing for players here,” Byrne said.

“Scholarships are helping them along with their finances for the year. The scholarships here are very good.

“It’s a big incentive. There’s a possibility of these players getting to play for the Irish Colleges. The games like this can put them in the shop window. If we can get to the latter stages, the players would be more in Craig Yelverton’s eyes.”

The likes of Finn Harps’ Liam Walsh, Keelin McGill and Pat Loughrey and Derry players Connor Gormley and Sean McBride are other key cogs in the wheel.
