Donegal will be well represented at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.

Letterkenny gymnast Patrick Quinlivan and North West Special Olympics Club basketball players Leon McDaid and Siobhan McCay will be part of Team Ireland for the Games, which take place in March.

They are part of a 91-strong squad to represent Ireland.

Quinlivan (36), who hails from Long Lane in Letterkenny, competes in Level 4 Floor, Vault, Rings, Asymmetric Bars, Parallel Bars and Pommel Horse.

McDaid, from Convoy, began to play basketball competitively after joining the North West Special Olympics Club, which is based in Letterkenny.

McCay from Strabane, Co. Tyrone first joined the Special Olympics in Easter 2006.

She first played netball for her school in Plumbridge, before discovering her passion for basketball at a multi-sports development day.

North West Special Olympic Club coach Tommy McCay will also be traveling as a basketball coach.
