Listen: ‘We have a wrong to put right’ says Donegal ladies boss Maxi Curran

MAXI CURRAN has laid it on the line to the Donegal senior ladies as they face into a must-win tie with Mayo on Saturday.

Donegal must win by four points in Tullamore to keep their All-Ireland hopes alive following a 3-12 to 3-9 defeat by Tyrone at the weekend in Mullingar.

“We have a wrong to put right in the way that we let ourselves down,” Curran told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“That’s not the way we want to be perceived and when the big days come we want to perform. There are a couple of strands to our motivation.”

Donegal got the better of Tyrone on their way to winning the Ulster title, but misfiring Tir Chonaill were caught by the Red Hands on Saturday.

And, now, Donegal’s season is on the tightrope.

Curran said: “There is pressure to perform as much as anything else.

“We let ourselves down the last day. We just didn’t perform above all else and left the shooting boots behind. There’ll always be pressure to rectify that the next day.

“It’s a game that is very much within our reach.  If we don’t get over this one, we have no earn going any further in the competition anyway.

“It’s very well set up for us. We’re coming on the back of a real slap in the face. If we can’t react and come out swinging then we’re as far as we need to be.”
