Listen: Versatile Dáire Ó Baoill content to come from deep for Gaoth Dobhair

Dáire Ó Baoill has come up with quite a few magic moments so far in Gaoth Dobhair’s run to the All-Ireland semi-final.

Ó Baoill might have taken a different path had fate not intervened.

In 2017, he was on the fringes of Finn Harps’ senior team and made his first team debut against Bohemians at the end of the season before turning his mind to Gaelic football.

It wasn’t long before he established himself in Declan Bonner’s Donegal squad and now he aims to take the ultimate step with his club as they take on champions Corofin in Saturday’s semi-final.
“It’s just pure excitement,” Ó Baoill told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We have to get the heads straight, keep the heads down and look up to see how the older boys do it.

“It’s our first year so we’re just feeling around. It’s second gear for Corofin. They know what to do and when to do it.”

Ó Baoill netted a hat-trick in the Ulster semi-final win over Crossmaglen and stepped up with a heroic block that was every bit as important in that game. Having beaten St Eunan’s and Naomh Conaill (twice) to win the Donegal SFC, Gaoth Dobhair accounted for Cargin, Cross and Scotstown in Ulster.

Ó Baoill said: “I think we needed to play a few big-name teams and a few big brands before we come into Corofin.”
