Listen: Val Murray praises commitment and effort from Donegal Masters after latest win

Val Murray praised the commitment of the Donegal Masters as they made it two wins from two in 2018 today at Coláiste Ailigh.

In baking temperatures, Donegal claimed a 2-13 to 2-11 triumph over Tyrone with John McFadden and Brian McLaughlin bagging the goals.

“It was a great advert for Masters football,” Murray said.

“The lads are giving great commitment. They have played all their lives and they’re still at it.

“We’ve learned from last year and we’d hope to go one step further this year.”

Donegal lost out to Mayo in the semi-finals last year. Today, Donegal came from five points down to claim their second win and in a fortnight’s time they head for Ruislip to face London.

Murray said: “We settled in the second half. We were six up and going well before Tyrone got a sucker of a goal. We regrouped and steadied the ship.

“Once we got the first goal, we settled. Tyrone teams never give up, club teams or county teams, and they kept at us. That was the type of game we needed before we go to London.”
