ULSTER SENIOR League Secretary Niall Callaghan is looking forward to an exciting season for the local intermediate teams.

The new League season, which will see the USL go under the banner of the bmcsports.ie Ulster Senior League, was officially launched this week.

Brian McCormick of bmcsports.ie is on board as the new title sponsor and, after the first weekend of action, in the Donegal News USL League Cup, on Sunday, another competitive season seems to be in store.

“We had a couple of good games at the weekend,” Mr Callaghan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We have good teams and good clubs remaining in the League.”

Details of a new cross-border Cup competition is to be announced in the coming weeks.

The USL secretary said: “We have a new competition starting with the North West Intermediate League. We’ll have more on that in the next couple of weeks.

“This will freshen things up and the teams are looking forward to the competition. Our six clubs will go into it with eight or possibly nine teams from the North West Intermediate League. Their League, no more than ourselves, have been struggling with numbers and they’re happy to go with this.”
