Listen: Shane Byrne reacts as Glengad advance to last 16 of FAI Junior Cup

Glengad United advanced to the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup in an entertaining game against Geraldines in North Donegal on Saturday.

It proved difficult for United, who should have been out of sight in the second half, with the game going to extra-time and penalties following an equalising goal from the Limerick side deep into injury time.

Glengad United manager Shane Byrne spoke to Donegal Sport Hub’s Charlie Collins after the cup game and admitted his side made it hard for themselves.

“On chances (in the first half) we should have been well out of sight,” Byrne said. “I don’t think 5-1 would have flattered us, to be honest.

“We had a lot of possession and you’re always afraid in games like that that they get a set-piece or a deflection and in fairness, their second goal was a cracker.”
