Donegal manager Rory Gallagher said his Donegal side came into this evening’s qualifier with Longford ‘very wounded and very hurt’.
Donegal had five points to spare, but that only tells a part of the tale.
Donegal kicked 17 wides and dropped another handful of attempts into Paddy Collum’s hands before finally getting their rhythm when it counted.

“We were coming very wounded and very hurt,” Gallagher said, in reference to their nine-point loss to Tyrone two weeks ago.
We were disappointed in ourselves as a group. We had to keep the chin up and it wasn’t easy.
“If you gave me a five-point victory, would I have taken it? 100 per cent. We’d like to have played better.
“Some of the edginess comes when we miss a lot of relatively straightforward chances. We weren’t playing that well, but we had enough chances to have eight or nine points on the board in the first half.
“There is a hangover. No matter what way you dress it up, it wasn’t easy to get over it.”
