Ollie Horgan felt his Finn Harps delivered their best performance of the season in booking their Premier Division return on Friday night – but warned that a ‘lot of things have to change’.
In his fifth season as Harps manager, Horgan has guided Harps into the top flight at the first attempt.
Mark Timlin and Nathan Boyle netted in a 2-0 win that gave Harps a 3-0 aggregate win over Limerick.
“We deserved to win it,” Horgan said.
“We played some decent football that he had played in patches through the year. To be fair, it was one of the few games that we had won with 15 minutes to go.
“It was chalk and cheese compared to Monday night.”
Harps had laboured through the first leg with Paddy McCourt’s penalty the difference, but they swept to a super win at the Markets Field on Friday.
Harps ended the season unbeaten in 14 League and play-off games, conceding only four goals in that time.
However, heading into the top flight again, Horgan warned: “While it was a very good run, it just got us over the line.
“We need a lot of things to change for us to have any hope of us staying in a ten-team, full-time Premier Division.
“I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but we know what’s ahead of us. It’s a more difficult Division now than it was when we went up the last time.
“Unless we get things right off the pitch we won’t be staying in the Premier Division.’
