Listen: Micheál Naughton hails Donegal’s ‘talent’ heart and belief’

Micheál Naughton hailed his Donegal ladies’ ‘talent, heart and belief’ after a barely believable comeback win over Armagh in yesterday evening’s Ulster semi-final.

Donegal were staring into the abyss when they trailed 1-8 to no score at the break – but Donegal roared to victory with a stunning second-half performance.

Geraldine McLaughlin, the Donegal captain, scored 1-7 as the Tir Chonaill side soared to victory.

“It’s hard to get words to describe that,” Naughton said.

“At half-time, another team could have folded up and gone home.

“The faith and belief that we have as a unit is brilliant. We went in at half-time and I said: ‘If you ever have to show belief, it’s today’. To come out and do that in the second half shows the talent, heart and belief that they have.

“They are huge ambassadors for the county.”
