Listen: Micheál Carroll on trying to fry Corofin’s ‘big fish’

Micheál Carroll says Gaoth Dobhair are swimming with ‘big fish’ in Saturday’s All-Ireland Club semi-final.

Donegal and Ulster champions Gaoth Dobhair come up against reigning All-Ireland kings Corofin, with a St Patrick’s Day date at Croke Park the prize for the victor.

Carroll returned from a spell in Boston to help propel Gaoth Dobhair to glory – and now they’re dreaming of bigger days.

“There’s a great prize there,” Carroll told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“You dream growing up of Croke Park on Paddy’s Day.”

Carroll had Liam Silke, Dylan Wall and Jason Leonard as colleagues with Donegal Boston as they won a Championship title last summer. Now, they’ll be on opposing sides and Carroll is aware of the task posed by the Galway outfit.

He said: “We now they’re the reigning All-Oreland champions. They romped to it last year, through Galway, Connacht and the All-Ireland. We know we’re up against the big fish. We know it’s a massive task. We’ll give them a good rattle.

“We took a few weeks off but, once January came, we went hard at it. We dealt with the preparation well and it’s down to the players now. We have to put in a big shift and a big performance.”
