Donegal ladies are aiming to reach the county’s first ever Division 1 final tomorrow when they face Galway in the semi-final – and manager Michael Naughton has backed his side to make history.
Donegal, in their first year back in Division 1 football, finished top of the table, and they take on fourth-placed Galway tomorrow in the semi-final at Markievicz Park in Sligo (2pm).
“Our goal was to retain the Division one status,” Naughton said.
“We played each game as an individual game to get a result. Self-belief and confidence came into the girls as the League went on.
“They went on to express themselves better in games and we’re delighted, in our first year back up in Division One, to have topped the table.
“There are no medals or Cups handed out for that and it’ll count for nothing if we don’t beat Galway.
“If we play to our potential, there is no reason we can’t take a win.”
[adrotate group=”46″]Naughton has seen the likes of Yvonne McMonagle and Aoife McDonnell return to the fold this year and the importance of a strong squad has not been lost on the Donegal boss.
