Mervyn O’Donnell said that Gaoth Dobhair ‘expected’ to defeat Naomh Conaill in today’s heavyweight tussle at Magheragallon.
An impressive second half, against admittedly wasteful opponents, saw Gaoth Dobhair come out on top.
“We expect to win our home fixtures,” Gaoth Dobhair boss O’Donnell said.
“We would have been disappointing coming out of here not winning this one.
“We’re delighted with the win. The conditions and the elements suit us because we’re so used to playing here.”
Naomh Conaill led 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time and added a point to that lead early in part two before Gaoth Dobhair took control with eight successive scores.
O’DOnnell said: “We talked about not having crazy shots. Any score we got was controlled and that’s what we expect of the lads. The right options were taken at the right time.”
