Listen: Maxi Curran urges Donegal ladies to make sure hard work’s not in vain

Maxi Curran says the Donegal ladies’ hard work so far will be all in vain if they fail to pick up another win on Sunday.

The Donegal ladies – who have won their opening two Division 1 games – face Monaghan in the O’Donnell Park curtain-raiser (12noon) to the men’s clash with Fermanagh.

A much-changed Donegal began 2019 with an eye-opening win over Dublin, the reigning League and All-Ireland champions, at Croke Park, before following it up with a win over Mayo two weeks ago.

“Sunday gives us a massive opportunity to all-but mathematically secure our place in Division 1,” Curran told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We have a great chance on Sunday to make it nine points. You’d be very unfortunate to be relegated on nine points.

“Starting the campaign with the transition we faced, we’d have been very happy to get that. We still have a massive job to make sure that happens.

“We’re very happy and we’ve put ourselves in a good position. If we don’t get over the line on Sunday, all of that will have been for nothing.”

Curran has appealed for Donegal’s supports to get in early to O’Donnell Park.

He said: “It would be great to see a crowd in. We got a double-bill last year and the stakes were high. We had a great crowd in that day to see us playing Kerry. An odd curious head will arrive early on Sunday.’
