Listen: Maxi Curran on the challenges of being St Eunan’s manager

Maxi Curran feels a certain sense of unfinished business as he aims to lead St Eunan’s to Championship glory.

In 2014, Curran took St Eunan’s to Dr Maguire, but they lost out to Naomh Conaill in the 2015 final.

Curran is back at the helm again and double-jobbed this year having also been manager of the Ulster-winning Donegal senior ladies side.

Now, though, it’s to club matters and a ‘group of death’ that sees St Eunan’s bundled in with Naomh Conaill, Gaoth Dobhair and Dungloe.

“This is what we get involved for, the Championship, to be involved at the business end of the year. We did okay in the league and were competitive in all the games; that’s what you want from the League,” he says of St Eunan’s current state.

“A lot of teams can become very predictable and maybe don’t freshen things up. It would scare you the amount off players who win minor championships and don’t kick a ball after that. We made a conscious effort to try and use as many young players as we could.”

St Eunan’s begin on Sunday with a huge clash against Gaoth Dobhair in O’Donnell Park.
