Listen: Kilcar’s new breed proving their worth, says Mark McHugh

MARK MCHUGH says Kilcar’s young guns are forcing Barry Doherty’s hand as the Towney men continue their excellent start to 2019.

Kilcar, county champions in 2017, were badly hit by key injuries last year as their fingers were prised off the Dr Maguire.

Shy their Donegal stars yesterday, Kilcar defeated St Michael’s 0-15 to 1-11 to keep up their winning run.

“Maintaining the 100 per cent record is something we strive for to keep the momentum going. Hopefully we can continue that coming into Championship,” McHugh told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We were fairly depleted after last weekend. We had a few injuries and had a game on Friday night, but it’s great to come away with two points.

“Paddy McShane has been doing a good hob since he come in and Oran Doogan. This is where young lads show management if they’re capable of senior football.

“Anyone can play an aul match, but when we really need these players they need to step up and they’re doing that. They’re putting pressure on management to force the selection.”
