Listen: Johnny Baird on LyIT’s win over ‘Blanch’ as semi-finals loom

JOHNNY Baird and the Letterkenny Institute of Technology ladies are eyeing up a busy schedule.

The LyIT side, thanks largely to a Tara O’Connor hat-trick, overcame IT Blanchardstown 5-1 at the Port Road yesterday to book a place in the last four of the O’Regan Cup, while they will also take part in the National Futsal finals.

“For the first match back, it was a good enough performance,” Baird told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“Blanchardstown are a tough team to break down, but we ground them down slowly and we’re happy enough. We’re short a few with placements, but it was a good overall performance.”

Lauren Cregan, Aoife McColgan and Aisling Nee will be absent as they travel abroad for placements, as LyIT seek O’Regan Cup glory, while the National Futsal finals offers the carrot of a spot at the European finals for the winner.
