Listen: Joe Boyle says Burt’s draw with Killybegs was ‘sickening’

Burt’s Joe Boyle said the manner of their late Donegal SFC draw with Killybegs today was ‘sickening’.

Burt, appearing in the Senior Championship for the first time in 16 years, were denied victory when Hugh McFadden arched over a free – one that was moved forward into a kickable position due to dissent from the Burt management – in the eighth minute of added time.

“It kind of feels like a defeat,” Boyle said.

“it’s sickening. We put in that much work. We knew if we performed to our ability that we’d be right in the game. To tell the truth, we should have won it.

“We have a fairly young team here and it’s relatively new to this team. We’re just disappointed that we didn’t get the win on our home patch.”

Burt had looked set for victory when veteran Ciaran Dowds put them in front for the first time.

Boyle said: “Ciaran is doing that all his career and we’re still kind of depending on him. He’s always pushing us on and wanting more. When it went over I thought that was it.”
