GRACE Boyle says organisers of the 2020 RunDonegal Women’s 5k are promising another great event for women in Donegal.

The 2020 version of the ever-growing run and walk takes place at the Finn Valley Centre on April 5 at 11am.

This year’s proceeds go to the Brid Carr Fund. Last year, the event raised €7,500 for the same charity.

“We are promising another great event for the women in Donegal,” Ms Boyle told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We’re expecting a great crowd. We had 600 plus last year and we’re expecting it to go up by the 20 per cent projected.”

This event has grown significantly in recent years, beginning initially in Letterkenny, based at LyIT.

Ms Boyle said: “We started because women weren’t participating. We are proud of the fact now that women’s aren’t as conscious.

“People start with us in this 5k and we get them moving. It’s a testament to the women of Donegal that more women are participating than men.”

Ms Boyle outlined the vital research being carried out, which is being part-funded by the Brid Carr Fund.
