Grace Boyle, the Chairperson of the Donegal Sports Star Awards, says Donegal continues to punch above its weight in sport.

Another remarkable year for Donegal sport will be toasted on January 25th at the 43rd Donegal Sports Star Awards.

“2018 was a tremendous year for sport in Donegal,” Boyle, who has taken over from Neil Martin in the Chair, said.

“Donegal is above their weight. We have some fantastic athletes and Donegal really does come to the fore. Donegal is special and we’re continuing the good work of previous committees.”

At yesterday evening’s launch, the award winners from 1978 were honoured – a showing of how far the event has come since its inception in 1976.

Ms Boyle said: “There were 14 winners in 1978, but a lot more sports are being recognised now. Everyone deserves a chance to be recognised for what they do.
