Gareth Harkin says Finn Harps are aiming to turn Finn Park into a ‘fortress’.
Harps, who have two points from their first three games of the Premier Division season, welcome Sligo Rovers to Ballybofey on Friday night for their first derby of the season.
Harps held the defending champions, Dundalk, to a share of the spoils last week at home.
“We need to pick up as many points as possible at home,” Harkin, who has worn the captain’s armband for the start of the season, told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“On the road is tough. We’re hoping to turn Finn Park into a bit of a fortress. It’s something we’ve looked at and are hoping to do.
“Our work-rate has been very good and that’s the least we should expect.”
After a narrow 1-0 loss to Bohemians, Harps drew with Dundalk, who saw Brian Gartland equalise after Keith Cowan headed Harps in front. On Monday, Harps drew 0-0 with St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park.
Harkin said: “We’re happy to get the points on the board. A first win would be great. It’s been a tough start.
“Every game we’re going in with a chance and hopefully we can catch a few teams on the hop. We need to stay in games. It’s going to be a lot of work because we know teams will dominate the ball against us.”
