Listen: Frustration all around for Ollie Horgan after Harps lose to Dundalk

A frustrated Ollie Horgan felt that his Finn Harps side could have taken something from champions Dundalk last night.

Ultimately, Brian Gartland and Jamie McGrath netted as Dundalk won 2-0 at Finn Park, on a night when Horgan’s frustrations were heightened with the news that injury could now rule Ethan Boyle and Paddy McCourt out of the rest of the season.

Harps held out for 66 minutes until Gartland broke the deadlock.

At the end, Harps fumed to referee Paul Tuite that Sean Houston had been fouled in the lead-up to the awarding of the corner.

“Everybody, including I, felt that Stephen O’Donnell pulled Sean Houston back,” sighed Harps boss Horgan.

“At the same time, we didn’t defend the corner. Regardless, they didn’t score direct from it. We should have dealt with Brian Gartland and we didn’t. We should have defended it better, so we take a share of the blame, but it was a massive decision in the game.

“In a cynical way, it was good to see Jamie McGrath score the second so we won’t be spending too much time talking about that one.”
