Listen: ‘Excitement’ abounds for Karen Guthrie and Donegal’s ladies

Karen Guthrie says the ‘excitement’ is back among the Donegal ladies as they embark on another trip to the Midlands for a TG4 All-Ireland group clash tomorrow.

Donegal face Kerry at Dr Hyde Park with top spot in the group – and, as a consequence, avoiding Dublin in the quarter-finals – up for grabs.

Both teams are already into the last eight, but the top berth remains undecided as the two sides cross swords.

“It’s a very different dynamic if you lose the game,” Guthrie said.

“It’s just as important to win this game as any other game. There’s plenty for us to pick up on.”

Guthrie is a seasoned campaigner in the green and gold and is gunning to make a lasting impression this summer.

The renewed buzz has come from a new management and a new set-up in 2018.

She said: “There’s a really strong competition there. Before now, we might have had 17 or 18, now we have 22 or more.

“The change this year has brought the excitement back into it. The whole package is huge now. How could you not be excited? You have every aspect of the game sorted now.”
