The memories of their 2015 clash – which ended in a dramatic draw – were flowing in the mind of Termon’s Enda McCormick last night as he scored 1-6 against Naomh Muire.

Termon got their 2017 SFC bid off to a winning start with a 1-12 to 1-10 win over Naomh Muire at The Burn Road.

McCormick was a Donegal minor last season and got a senior call-up this year. Last night, McCormick was on fire in a sometimes nervy win for Hugh Harkin’s team.

“We always knew it was going to be tough against these, from the day Daire (McDaid) kicked the late free against them down in the Banks,” McCormick said.

“It was just good to get a good victory there.

“It was a hard battle, but it was good to get over the line. We battled well.”

Termon were well beaten in a quarter-final by Kilcar last year, but have designs again on making it to the knockout phase.

McCormick said: “We struggled last year against Kilcar, but we have a young team coming through so hopefully we can build on.”
