Diane McGlynn put Glenfin’s county final win down to their graft in training.
The experienced defender was emotional after Sunday’s 4-7 to 3-7 win over Moville at O’Donnell Park.
“It meant everything today,” said McGlynn, who suggested that this year was ‘the last’ for her.
“I play football because I love it. They had my back when I needed them.
“We had it hard and fair in training. Francie (Martin, Glenfin manager) works on that so we can take the pressure when it comes down to this.
“It was great. It was just end-to-end stuff. We expected a great battle – and today was no different. You have ten county girls playing there and that’s what we worked on. The girls are putting in so much effort.”
Karen Guthrie’s 2-3 and 1-1 from Katy Herron proved pivotal for the Pairc Taobhoige side.
But it didn’t look good when Ciara Hegarty riffled in a goal for Moville to briefly put them in command.
McGlynn said: “We were worried, but we showed character before. We have always turned it around because we have great belief.”
