Listen: Downbeat Bohs boss Long praises ‘very effective’ Finn Harps

Beaten Bohemians boss Keith Long praised ‘very effective’ Finn Harps after last night’s hard-fought encounter at Finn Park.

Bohs left empty handed despite taking the lead through Dinny Corcoran. With Eddie Dsane and Sean Houston on the mark, Harps scored a valuable 2-1 win that takes them to within two points of Bohemians.

“You have to give great credit to Ollie Horgan and Finn Harps,” Long said.

“They were the much better team and showed the greater desire. They were sharper, they were hungrier and our performance was flat. We lacked energy and tempo.

“You can’t carry bodies coming up here. Finn Harps are a very effective team, they are well-organised, direct and they play to a style that really suits them.”

Bohs had taken ten points from their last five games and arrived in Ballybofey with spirits high.

However, the Gypsies fell to defeat against Harps for the first time since Ollie Horgan’s men returned to the top flight.

Long said: “We got what we deserved, which was nothing.

“We weren’t at the races. We didn’t get out of second gear. The manner of the performance was really disappointing. It just wasn’t good enough. We were lethargic and flat.”
