MICKEY McCann says the Donegal hurlers will be well primed for their return to Division 2B next year.
Donegal defeated Armagh 1-18 to 0-19 today in the Division 3A final, confirming their promotion back to Division 2B at the first attempt.
“It was a tough one to see out, but it was a nice one to win,” McCann told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We had big performances from big players. Our main men stepped up to see it out for us.
“Division 3A is tough to get out of. It’s very important to get back up, It’s a better standard and you can hurl more. It’ll be a tough task, but we have to rise to it again. If boys stay about and we have no retirements, these boys could give it a rattle to stay there.”
Gerard Gilmore’s early goal gave Donegal a platform and Declan Coulter hit ten points for the Tir Chonaill men.
McCann hailed his side’s resolve after a fine afternoon.
He said: “We proved that through the League. We were in some tight spots. We know now how to dig deep and see it out to the end. That proved so today again. It was right to the wire.
“We defended very well. It was pressure all the time. Our defence had to be on key. Joe Boyle didn’t give Ryan Gaffney a clean ball.
