Listen: Delight for McCann as Donegal reach Nicky Rackard final

MICKEY McCann says there is a real ‘buzz’ in the camp as Donegal’s hurlers booked a place in the Nicky Rackard final.

Donegal saw off Tyrone by 3-25 to 1-21 in today’s semi-final at O’Donnell Park.

In spite of being without the likes of Davin Flynn, Declan Coulter and Bernard Lafferty, McCann’s men racked up an impressive score.

“They stepped up,” McCann told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“To get 3-25 without some of our marquee forwards, they really upped the game.  To come through that with that sort of a victory was very pleasing. We kept the scoreboard ticking on.”

Gerard Gilmore netted twice in the second half after Richie Ryan’s goal cancelled out an early three-pointer by Keifer Morgan.

And McCann hailed the commitment of his experienced charges.

He said: “The likes of Joe (Boyle), Sean (McVeigh) and Danny (Cullen) have great hunger. Joe comes from Mayo to play for us. He loves it. We’re playing as a unit and things are good in the camp. There is a good buzz there.”
