Listen: Cowan targets clean sheets as Finn Harps look to shore up

When Finn Harps won promotion in 2015, their clean sheets were the foundation for the success – and Keith Cowan wants to restore that defensive solidity.

Cowan has just returned from 16 months on the sidelines with a horror knee injury, but was at the heart of the rearguard on Saturday as Harps overcame Cobh Ramblers 2-0.

“We pride ourselves in clean sheets,” Cowan said.

“It was great to get one on Saturday. Cobh tested us with a lot of long balls.”

Harps take on Wexford Youths – who lost 8-1 to Drogheda at the weekend – on Friday night. Cowan believes Youths will come to the north-west intent on putting right a few wrongs.

He said: “We’d be looking to put a few more points on the board on Friday night.

“Wexford shipped a few goals and will have a point to prove. They have done well at Finn Park in the past and they’ll use that to their advantage. I’ve been on the end of a few of those in my day – and you want to make damned sure it doesn’t happen again.”
