Donegal’s Katy Herron says that competition has been ‘fierce’ in training as the countdown to June 9 continues.
Donegal face Monaghan in an Ulster Ladies SFC semi-final at Clones next month.
Herron skippered Donegal to Ulster glory last year and under the watch of Maxi Curran and Damian Devaney this time, the Tir Chonaill women are aiming to repeat the trick.
“The competition is fierce at training,” the Glenfin woman said.
“There is a whole variety of talent coming in and it’s about getting us to blend together.”
A new-look Donegal had a good League campaign and were only pipped on an odd system whereby Galway advanced to the semi-finals as they had more scores (0-16 to 1-13) when they drew with Donegal in Glenfin.
But Donegal have put that aside quite swiftly.
Herron said: “We had no real expectations for the League. We didn’t dwell on it too much. We were focussed on Championship. It gave us a good opportunity to knuckle down with the girls away from home in the last couple of weeks and we’ve moved on.”
