Listen: Big day has arrived for Ryan McKinley and Naomh Colmcille

The day has, finally, arrived and Naomh Colmcille seek to go where no Donegal junior champion has gone before.

They might only have been waiting since last Saturday, but this week has felt like an age as Naomh Colmcille prepare for their first ever Ulster final.

No Donegal team has ever won the Ulster JFC crown. Only Naomh Brid in 2006 and Urris in 2014 reached the final.

Naomh Brid lost 1-6 to 0-8 against Greencastle of Tyrone while Urris were well beaten by Rock, also of Tyrone, 2-12 to 0-7.

“These players really want to go and win it,” says Ryan McKinley, the Naomh Colmcille manager.

“Everything has stayed the same, the training, the commitment and the work-rate. We’re there on merit and motivation isn’t an issue.

“We’ll not be there to make up the numbers.”

Belnaleck, Naomh Colmcille’s opponents for this evening’s final, are the first team from Fermanagh to contest the Ulster JFC final.
