Listen: Ardal McDermott’s delight as Donegal hurlers head for 2B

Donegal hurling manager Ardal McDermott says his players showed their worth in today’s Division 3A final win over Tyrone.

Led by a stunning display by Davin Flynn, who landed 2-8, Donegal had 23 points to spare against the Red Hands at Celtic Park, with Stephen Gillespie and Ronan McDermott also scoring goals.

The win means that Donegal make a swift return to Division 2B for 2018.

“It’s a big day for us,” the Donegal manager said.

“We got out of the blocks early and kept working. The boys showed that they wanted it.

“They played some great hurling and deserved it.

“The boys were hungry form the outset. We were ready and were confident from the start. That hurling is in them and I’m glad that people could see that today.

“There is quality in that team and there is more to come.”

On his Man of the Match, Flynn, the Donegal manager added: “Players are man-marking Davin in games, but some of the scores he’s getting, no-one could mark him. Davin is a fantastic asset.”
