Listen: “We always feel that we have a chance,” says Naomh Conaill boss Regan

Martin Regan speaks with a confidence that has been earned – and the Naomh Conaill manager believes his side can bring Dr Maguire back to Glenties this weekend.

Naomh Conaill are entering their sixth final in the last ten years.

Though not at top gear for some of the Championship, Naomh Conaill have put old foes Kilcar and Glenswilly out in the knockout phase and are in high spirits.

“Absolutely,” Regan said.

“We know that if we don’t perform we’ll be blown away by this Gaoth Dobhair team. But if we give a performance, we won’t be far away.

“We feel on given day we can match any team in the county and we’ll give them a right rattle. We always feel that we have a chance.”

Dermot Molloy’s first-half goal saw Naomh Conaill past Glenswilly in the semi-final, but it was a game that wasn’t over until the final shrill of the whistle.

Regan said: “We lived dangerously against Glenswilly semi-final, but we got the goal at the right time. We showed a bit of resolve, but we could have made that game easier for ourselves. Id’ be disappointed with our last five or ten minutes.”
