Listen: Aidy Glackin takes the positives as Glenswilly lose in Kilcar

Aidy Glackin had plenty to be upbeat about despite an opening day loss to Kilcar in the All-County Football League.

Yesterday, Glackin’s Glenswilly lost out to Kilcar at Towney in a repeat of the 2016 county final, but it was a much-changed Glenswilly that took to the field.

Their Championship campaign begins with a home game against Ardara in May and that’s where the focus lies for Glackin and co.

“Out of the 18 that played today, seven were teenager,” he pointed out.

“It’s a long time since we were able to do that. Kilcar are one of the benchmark teams. We’re the champions, but those boys acquitted themselves well and it’ll be a good experience for them.

“The young lads did well. We have brought them in, they’re training hard and they deserve their chance.”
