THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association has cancelled the conclusion of the 2020 Lidl National Leagues.
The LGFA confirmed the decision as sport across Ireland came to a complete halt yesterday.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that, among a number of new, extreme measures rolled out by the Government, all sporting activity would be cancelled until April 19 at least.
The LGFA will not be completing the 2020 Leagues, while several other decisions were made following conference calls between leading LGFA officials.
“In light of the Covid-19 outbreak, the prime concern for the LGFA is the health and wellbeing of our members,” a statement said.
“A number of decision have been made in respect of LGFA competitions, which have not been taken lightly.
“The 2020 LIDL National Leagues have been cancelled for 2020, and will not be completed.”
The 2020 TG4 Championship will be reviewed on an ongoing basis in line with Government guidelines.
The HEC O’Connor Cup, Post-Primary Schools competitions, the LGFA Interprovincials, the Under-14 Championship, the Féile na nÓg and Féile Skills competitions have all been cancelled for 2020.
The Under-18 and Under-16 competitions may go ahead, depending on when activities resume.
