Letterkenny Triathlon: Garvagh Forest 10k and Raphoe 5k full round-up

The Garvagh Forest 10k Trail Run and Raphoe’s 5K Spring Series took place for Letterkenny Triathlon last week with club members recording impressive times. Full round-up below. 

Garvagh Forest 10k Trail Run

Siobhan Gallagher and Colin Dean kicked off their 2019 season at the Garvagh 10k Trail run. The Northern Velocity ran event boasted a hilly and mucky terrain.

Colin had a fantastic time of 39:27, finishing an impressive 6th overall. Siobhan also had a super run, finishing in 44:43, 2nd female overall. A Super start to 2019 for both athletes!

Raphoe 5k Spring Series

Well done to club member Enda Carr who took part in the Raphoe 5k, the second race of the Lifford AC 5K Spring Series last Sunday. Enda finished in a brilliant time of 23:16.

Club members are reminded of our Club policy-

The below are all essentials for taking part in all club training sessions:

  • Front white light
  • Rear flashing red light
  • Bright/Reflective clothing
  • Hi-Viz on all club runs

2019 Club Membership

All club members are reminded that 2019 membership must be renewed by January 31st to ensure you are eligible to take part in any club training sessions.

 Club membership and Triathlon Ireland membership for 2019 can be renewed on the attached link:

Many thanks to members who have already renewed for 2019. Please make sure you select Letterkenny 24/7 as your club when signing up!

Remember your membership needs to be up-to-date to take part in all club sessions from now on including the run, club cycles and swim sessions.

2019 sees our club celebrate its 10 year anniversary so an exciting year awaits!

A club information night will take place on Monday 25nd February; more information to come soon!

Quarterly Swim Payment

The first quarterly swim payment of the year for those that prepay is now also due and can be paid at this week’s swim session.

Saturday Swim Sessions

There will be no Saturday swim sessions on 26th January or 2nd February due to Swilly Seals Galas taking place.

Club Training

Club training continues as follows:

  • Monday: Coached track session at Aura

Message from Coach Ciaran O’Donnell: Leaving reception at Aura at 6.30pm SHARP to complete tw0 miles warm up, out past Ballymacool Park.

Latecomers will know where to head to meet them if anyone running late. On track and warmed up for 6.50pm, with session getting underway as soon as!

  • Wednesday: Swim session- Novice 7-8pm, Intermediate/Advanced 8-9pm
  • Thursday: Long run session leaves Aura at 6.30pm sharp- Hi-Viz is compulsory for these sessions- Be safe, be seen!
  • Saturday: Club cycle from Aura at 9am- All members must have front and rear lights to take part in the club session.
  • Saturday: Club swim session Saturday at 6pm Additional lane added for 14-16yr old club members- MUST be accompanied by a parent (please note prepayment does not cover Saturday swim).
