On Sunday past at Pairc na nGael, Letterkenny Gaels recorded a one-point victory over Red Hugh’s in Group 1 of the Mount Errigal Hotel Junior A Football Championship Round 3.

The Glebe men went into the clash knowing that a victory would ensure progression to the quarter finals.
The first half was nearly all one way traffic in favour of the hosts with Conor McBrearty (pictured above) scoring 2-2.

The Gaels went in at the break seven points up on a scoreline of 2-4 to 0-3. The visitors came out in the second half and after notching up some early points they scored a goal when Conor Gallagher punched the ball past the Gaels keeper. Both teams battled bravely with the last point of the game going to the Gaels giving the Glebe men a deserved one-point victory.

The result guarantees that both teams progress to the quarter finals. This also means that for the first time in the Letterkenny Gaels history they have 3 adult teams progressing to the quarter finals of their respective championships in the same season – Junior A, Junior B and U-21.
