Ann Marie McGlynn’s scintillating recent form continued on Sunday in the Waterside Half Marathon in Derry.

Ann Marie was the winner of the women’s race in the event, which was also the Northern Ireland Half Marathon Championship.

Her excellent time of 1.16.54 saw her finish 5.54mins ahead of the 2nd woman. She was 16th overall.

In-form Ciaran McGonagle had another fine run. He followed up his recent win in the Donegal Half Marathon with an excellent time of 1.12.10.

Ciaran was the first M40 runner and 8th overall. Peter Hamilton,  running in his home city of Derry, finished in 1.35.58. Robert Kavanagh’s time was 1.39.19.

Marie Mullen clocked 1.44.35 and Noel Lynch 1.44.56. There were also fine runs from Paul Lee, Paul Harris and John Mullen but their times were omitted from the official results; details of their times will be provided in the next notes.

Gideon Kimosop was the winner in a very fast time of 1.06.43.

Endurance specialist, Caitriona Jennings, had an outstanding run in Brasov, Romania, on Sunday. She was 7th in the IAU 50KM World Championship in a time of 3.19.49, a new Irish record for the distance.

It was a very impressive performance from Caitriona, which saw her run an average pace of just under  4 minutes/KM. The distance is more than 18% longer than a Marathon.

Natasha Adams was 6th female in the BMW National Series Triathlon on Sunday at Lough Key. She was 2nd in her category, F40-44.

Paul Lee was the leading LAC runner in Saturday morning’s Letterkenny parkrun. His time of 22.48 gave him a top 10 finish and 1st place in the M50 category. The 2nd M50 runner was Anthony Farren, in 23.21. Richard Raymond was 1st in the M65 category in 23.32.
