Late goals from Nathan Boyle and Daniel O’Reilly saw Finn Harps continue their pre-season work-out with a narrow win over Limerick at the AUL on Saturday evening.

Sean McSweeney had Limerick in front in the early stages on a day when Raffaele Cretaro made his first appearance in a Harps shirt.

The Sligo Rovers legend was snapped up by Harps manager Ollie Horgan in the off-season ahead of the Ballybofey outfit’s return to the Premier Division.

And the veteran Cretaro showed some of his old flashes in another useful work-out for Harps in the capital.

It was a repeat of the promotion-relegation play-off, which Harps won over two legs to confirm their top-flight place for 2019.

Boyle – who scored a memorable goal in the famous win at the Markets Field – drew Harps on level terms.

The winner arrived in the final minute when Daniel O’Reilly, another of Horgan’s new recruits, fired home.

The Harps side also included Harry Ascroft (pictured), who was confirmed as having signed by the club at the end of the week.

The 23-year-old defender, who has been capped at U20 level by Australia, joined from Balzan in Malta having previously been on the books of Central Coast Mariners in Australia and VVV-Venlo in the Eredivisie.

Harps take on the Inishowen League on Tuesday night at Maginn Park and face Derry City at the Brandywell on Friday night.
