Kildrum Tigers land former Harps ace for new Donegal League season

KILDRUM Tigers have landed a big coup ahead of the new Donegal League season with the capture of former Finn Harps winger Marc Brolly.

The 28-year-old Strabane man could feature for the St Johnston team in their opening game of the campaign this Sunday when they welcome Convoy Arsenal to Station Road Park in the Brian McCormick Cup.

Shane Browne has taken over the reigns from Glenn Bovaird at the Foylesiders and will be assisted by Emmet Lynch.

Brolly is a real bluechip signing for the Tigers, who finished third in the Premier Division last season.

In two spells at Harps, Brolly made 124 League appearances and scored 10 goals. He was a member of the promotion-winning squad under Paul Hegarty in 2007.

Brolly has had spells at Dungannon Swifts and Derry City and while he briefly re-signed for Ollie Horgan at Finn Park, work commitments meant he was unable to turn out for the Ballybofey side.

Brolly played for Kildrum in their recent 1-0 win over Lifford Celtic, a game in which Reece Laird scored the winner.

Laird and Oran Higgins netted in a 2-1 win over Lagan Harps while on Friday night another from Laird alongside goals from Jonny McGinty and Damian Crossan gave the Tigers a 3-1 success against Deele Harps.

Kildrum have also acquired the services of former Cockhill Celtic goalkeeper Stephen Conroy.
