14-man Kilcar overcame St Michael’s at The Banks last night to reach the semi-finals of the Senior B Championship.

Kilcar 1-9 St Michael’s 2-3

In difficult conditions, Kilcar were able to cope with the 20th minute dismissal of Paddy McShane to take the win.

Kilcar led 0-6 to 1-1 at half-time, with Cormac Cannon on the mark with three points.

St Michael’s were given a lifeline in the form of an Eoghan Kelly goal late in the half. It was a controversial score with some debate as to whether or not it had crossed the line.

The goal stood and it gave St Michael’s a real boost.

Edward O’Reilly netted a second goal for St Michael’s, but Pauric McShane’s goal helped ensure that Kilcar moved into the last four.

Scorers: Kilcar – Pauric McShane 1-0, Cormac Cannon 0-4 (2f), Gerard McBrearty 0-2 (1f), Jason Campbell, Shane Gillespie, Ryan O’Donnell 0-1 each

St Michael’s – Eoghan Kelly, Edward O’Reilly 1-0 each, Dean McColgan 0-2 (2 ‘45s), Raymond McLaughlin 0-1
