KILCAR came from behind in the second half to overcome near neighbours Killybegs in Fintra last night.

Ryan Cunningham’s goal had Killybegs in front at half-time, but the home side score just two points in the second half.

Kilcar raced into a three-point lead with Mark Sweeney, Matthew McClean and Stephen McBrearty (pictured) scoring in the first four minutes.

Cunningham got Killybegs off and running and they were within a point, 0-3 to 0-4, at the water break.

Cunningham powered into the top left-hand corner of the Kilcar net in the 20th minute, giving Kevin Campbell no chance after going past three defenders.

At half-time, Killybegs led 1-7 to 0-9.

John McNulty was missing the county contingent as well as Mark McHugh, Conor Doherty and Brian O’Donnell, but the returns of McBrearty and Sweeney were welcomed for the Towney men.

Christopher Mulligan and Jack McSharry scored inside ten minutes of the second half, but Killybegs didn’t score again for the rest of the game.

Kilcar themselves had 20 minutes without a score, a McClean free ending their wait in the 54th minute.

Scorers – Killybegs: Ryan Cunningham (1f) 1-2, Jack McSharry (2f) 0-3, Christopher Mulligan 0-2, Odhran McGuinness, Rory Collier 0-1 each

Kilcar: Matthew McClean (3f) 0-6, Stephen McBrearty 0-3, Mark Sweeney 0-2, Cormac Cannon, Oran Doogan, Jason Campbell, Ryan O’Donnell 0-1 each
