Keadue and Glenea draw a blank as curtain comes down

Keadue Rovers and Glenea United played out a scoreless draw at Central Park to bring the curtain down on both teams’ League seasons.

Keadue Rovers 0 Glenea United 0

In perfect conditions for football Glenea were brighter in the first few minutes but after ten minutes the home side began to assert control.

A Michael Greene cross set up Aidan McHugh’s but his effort was saved. Shortly afterwards Aaron Mc Cafferty’s shot was well saved by the Glenea keeper.

On 25 minutes it should’ve been one nil to Keadue when Danny McGlynn’s shot was saved and on the follow up Calum Boyle had his shot cleared off the line.

Into the second half and Michael Greene’s shot went inches wide.

The play was generally scrappy with the home side having most of the possession but despite that they were met with a resolute Glenea defence.

Ten minutes into the second half Glenea had a chance but it went wide of the right-hand post.

Midway through the half Keadue could’ve been ahead when an Aaron McCafferty shot was deflected, hit the crossbar, and went over.

Ten minutes from the end Aidan Mc Hugh hit a fine effort but his shot was saved at full stretch at the far post.

Keadue had one final chance two minutes from the end when Calum Boyle headed over from a good team move. Good team performances from both sides.

Referee: Paddy Duffy.
