JOHN Kelly set new Ulster, Donegal and club shot put records today at his season-opening event.

The Finn Valley AC man, competing for the first time in 2020, reached out to 18.15 metres.

Kelly was competing in Reykjavik, Iceland and finished second.

The throw from the St Johnston man sees him set new Ulster, Donegal and Finn Valley AC indoor records.

Kelly had closed out 2019 by smashing his outdoor records three times on the one August Sunday in Leiria, Portugal, finally reaching to 18.50m.
