TWO DONEGAL men claimed Jiu Jitsu gold medals at the Madrid Open on Sunday.

Donegal town’s Bryan Gorman and Ramelton native Brian Coyle were celebrating after their big wins, representing Rilion Gracie Ireland.

Gorman is the owner of DT Fitness in Donegal town, was competing in the brown belt division.

Coyle, competing out of Rilion Gracie in Letterkenny, where he is the Head Instructor, was in the black belt competition. This was his first black belt tournament since he received the rank in Florida from Master Rilion Gracie in September.

“We have traveled all over the world to compete and train, put in a lot of hard work with no off-season,” Gorman told Donegal Sport Hub.

“We train six days a week, sometimes twice a day, both teaching and training. We knew that the hard work paid off. We have to thank all of our training partners – without them, we couldn’t have done this.”

Gorman and Coyle are now looking forward to competing in the 2017 European Championships, which are set to be staged in Lisbon, Portugal at the end of January.
